Romance Increases With AgeThey say that with age comes wisdom, but recent romantic studies show that smarts aren't the only thing that increases after time. While many consider their twenties and thirties as their sexual peaks, a British survey of 2,000 men found that only one in four 20 to 25-year-old men had recently romantically dined under candlelight with their significant other, a tawdry number compared to the men over fifty, of whom nearly half had recently wooed their lover with a candlelit meal. Even more of a disparity showed when it came to how many guys insisted upon kissing their lovers goodbye – a whopping 85% of men over 50 couldn't leave the house without a smooch or two, far trumping the number of younger men who left their house in a liplock. And those men over fifty overwhelmed the competition when it came to saying those magical three words, "I love you," with 78 percent admitted to saying it every day. Ladies, are you swooning yet?

While older men of all ages were more romantic towards the opposite sex than their younger mates, the study found that affection perfection peaks in men around age 53, a shockingly far cry from those who have always believed that their best years with women were supposed to be in college and shortly thereafter. In fact, the numbers show the opposite trend, that men enjoy themselves and the traditions of romance far more as they approach old age.

While the studies were done in Great Britain, it's not impossible to extend the research findings to males across the pond. Reasons older men offered for the additional affection did not mention Viagra (surprise!) but thoughtfully included a renewed appreciation for life, a lack of stress, an awareness of how importance romance actually is in many male-female relationships. Warner Leisure Hotels, the company that performed the study says, also added that "when a man reaches the age of 53, he will be wiser about what works for his partner and more likely to make an effort." So younger guys, pay attention, put in some effort, say that you love your partner over a candlelit dinner, and your 33 can be the new 53 in terms of romance!
