Sugar & Spice: Too Young for Love?

Dear Sugar & Spice ... He's cute, he's funny, he's really smart, and he likes me. So what's the problem? Well, he's 20 and I'm 34. Is there a rule about how low you should go when dating? He's not even able to get into a club yet.

Rule? I think the only rule you should live by is to stay within the legal 'age of consent' range, and even though, I would make my starting point 21 -- no need to be changing diapers. Now, imagine what you can learn with someone who didn't grow up with Pac-Man or Rubik's Cube. I think life is all about learning from each other and this one plays on the notion that opposites do attract at any age -- even if one is 45 and the other is 60. Make sure you have common interests since nothing is worse than dating a guy who thinks Dave & Buster's is the perfect place for a date, whereas, a romantic restaurant is your ideal.

          A Lot of Spice

Ahhh, young love. It's nice to be the subject of a young man's affection, but remember what love and dating was like when you were 20? Worse, can you imagine what it would have been like to settle down with any of the guys you dated back then? My guess is you were way too young to profess your love and commitment to anyone, the same way this 20-year-old is now. Of course, if you're OK with the fact that you're both in very different places, then there's nothing wrong with having a nice fling with this strapping young man. But just don't get caught up in dreaming of a future with this young buck; just enjoy the good time. Chime In | Meet Spice
